I have a GM HEI ignition on my CJ-7 which works really well. It is a big improvement over the factory ignition system. My Jeep idles much better and the engine will rev well into the 3500 rpm range. Before the HEI I was constantly having idle problems and lack of power in the upper rpm range. Listed below are some links covering this upgrade. There is also a post from Off-Road Jeep Forum discussing a new Motorcraft TFI upgrade using the stock ignition with some alternative bolt on parts. This looks like a promising alternative to the GM HEI and would save a trip to the Junkyard. Let me know if you have any questions or if you have performed the TFI upgrade. I would be interested to see how it compares to the HEI upgrade.
